Founded by former Wallabies and Queensland Reds players Saia and Anthony Fainga’a, Moonyah Commercial was established to support Indigenous Australians and create workforce opportunities. As proud Aboriginal men of the Bundjalung people, the Fainga’a twins have dedicated over 20 years to giving back and creating positive change.

A major part of this commitment is the Moonyah Rugby Academy, which brings rugby union directly into Indigenous communities through clinics and development programs. These programs are more than just about sport – they include mentoring from past and present professional athletes, inspiring guest speakers, and tailored workshops to build leadership and business skills. From these clinics, talented young men will be identified and invited to join the Academy, where they will be supported to pursue rugby at a higher level.
Rugby union gave the Fainga’a brothers life-changing opportunities – teaching discipline, resilience, and building networks that helped them grow on and off the field. The Academy’s goal is to create the same pathways for the next generation. As Moonyah Commercial continues to grow, we are also committing to provide rugby and academic scholarships to private schools for selected Academy participants. This ensures that Indigenous youth not only gain access to elite sport, but also to quality education and broader opportunities for their future. At the same time, the Academy gives back to Australian rugby by strengthening grassroots pathways and supporting the game’s growth across the country.
